intercon chemical hand soap recall

Updated

In September 2026, the FDA announced a Class II recall for six hand soap products manufactured by Intercon Chemical Co. due to potential bacterial contamination.

Recalled Products

The recall includes over 2,600 cases of the following hand soaps:

  • Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe (28.7 fl. oz.)
  • Clearly Better by Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe (1000mL / 34 fl. oz.)
  • Summit 150 Foaming Hand Soap (28.7 fl. oz.)
  • Vestis Foaming Hand Soap, Fresh Pear Scent (33.8 fl. oz.)
  • Laura Lynn Honey Apple Crisp Liquid Hand Soap (8 fl. oz.)
  • Laura Lynn Foaming Pear Scent Hand Soap with Moisturizers (7.5 fl. oz.)

Reason for Recall

  • Contamination: Two of the products—Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe and Clearly Better by Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap With Aloe—have been identified as potentially contaminated with several bacterial strains, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas putida, Pseudomonas monteilii, Serratia marcescens, and Serratia nematodiphila.
  • Other Products: The remaining four products are being recalled due to general potential bacterial contamination.
  • Risk Level: The FDA classified this as a Class II recall, meaning that while the products could cause temporary or medically reversible health issues, the probability of serious adverse health consequences is considered remote.

What You Should Do

  • Discontinue Use: If you have any of these products, you should stop using them immediately.
  • Distribution: The products were distributed across 15 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.
