TFT AVP
In Teamfight Tactics (TFT), AVP stands for Average Placement.
It is a core statistical metric used by players, analysts, and tournament organizers to evaluate performance, meta strength, and skill levels.
Key Aspects of AVP:
- Definition: AVP is the mathematical average of a player's or a specific composition's finishing positions across multiple games. For example, if you place 1st, 8th, 3rd, and 4th, your AVP would be 4.0.
- Performance Benchmark: In ranked TFT, AVP is often used to project or track skill.
* An AVP below 4.0 is generally considered very strong (Challenger level), as it indicates that on average, you are placing in the top half of the lobby.
* AVP thresholds fluctuate depending on the rank and number of games played, as variance tends to stabilize over a larger sample size.
- Meta Evaluation: Players and developers use AVP to track how "good" a specific team composition or augment is. However, it is often noted as a potentially misleading stat because it does not always account for:
* Contesting: A strong composition might have a mediocre AVP simply because it is being played by too many people in the same lobby.
* Pick Rate: Comps that are rarely played (niche) may have skewed AVPs compared to popular "meta" comps.
- Competitive Use: In TFT esports and tournaments, AVP is frequently used as a tie-breaker or as a qualification criterion to determine which players or regions move on to the next stage of competition.
